My Art Style & Inspiration

Having mentioned my interests in illustration, my most popular works of art have been my anime(ish)samurai pinups. Although most people may think of dragon ball or naruto whey they hear anime, it's taken years for me to develop a style somewhere between anime and all my other different art interests. One of the things people tend to quickly notice is the art within the art. The tattoo art within the pinup art. It's this particular interest that first appeared in my work going years back. As time went on, I felt more drawn into the art of tattoos so that my pinups would have more credible tattoos. Being that samurai are Japanese, my earlier pinups had traditional Japanese themed tattoo works illustrated on their bodies. Now that I have spent a couple years studying and practicing tattooing, not only has my work taken an appreciation towards Japanese, but also other styles of tattoo that I was unfamiliar with. Some traditional and others much more current. Living in Austin, where people are a bit more open about tattoos and lifestyle, the array of styles that people request is pretty wide. It's also given me the opportunity to show a tattoo style that also represents my illustration style. And from what it appears, it's becoming more accepted not just by my returning clients, but new ones requesting my style of work as well.  My ability to draw outside of the confines of traditional tattoo themes has made it easier for me to visualize the sometimes not so common ideas that people request. And it's because of the not so common ideas and tattoo requests that my job doesn't get boring. Each tattoo brings its own challenge on how it will be brought to life. It's not just my job to try and draw something nice, but it's also my responsibility as a tattooer, that the work is seen as a well done tattoo. It's my job to create a realization of the client's idea. And my goal to make them happy with this body modification.
